Journal??? What's that for???

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 2, 2009, 8:20 PM
Hello Deviartist I've never really thought to use the Journal mostly becaused I've not had anything to say until now that is. OK, so here goes my first Journal entry. I've been a member of Deviant for like 5 years now and while I was looking at my pages viewed I noticed the number of viewers I've had in that time is kind of low and averages out to about 1000 views a year, So I'm wondering what should I be doing to get more views. Should I be posting more work? Beuause I gotta say that even when I do post I never get many comments if there are any at all, So should I be commenting in more the galleries. Cause the problem with that is with all the great art here that could become a full time job. Anyone with a thought or ideas please feel free to comment. I'm very curious

  • Watching: nothin'

ha that's funny - I just posted a journal with almost exactly the same thing in it - because I don't get s#it for views either (then you look at some of these pages with nothing but borderline crappy Naruto art that has like 1 million views! frustrating bro!)

The best advice I got when I posted my journal asking this question was draw stuff that is pop-culture at the time cause people tend to search that out (so for instance last month you could have done some "watchmen" art - and got some new watchers out of that) now you could do some terminator or transformers or GIJoes er somthin...

The other thing is find clubs/contests that you can post art on because they have a ton of people that are watching them - and when they see yer stuff they'll dig it I think... yer stuff rocks and is original - so maybe you just need to network more (fav/watch/journal people etc) I guess and you'll attract more views that way too - later man =)

So let me ask you, has this helped you increase you views? Cause I think your work is great and I'm sure if your doing colors on other peoples pic when they post it in there gallery it would be directing them to your gallery.

yea - that was part of my thinking anyway I'm not sure if I get a ton of views that way though... some... it seems to me that everytime you post somewhere other than yours more people run across it... who knows

Really though, I've never had more/favs/comments/veiws (not even close) than when I posted a harley quinn pic on a harley-quinn fan-club page :iconharleyquinnfc: any of those fan-clubs that have a ton of watchers become your watchers (specially if you posted one of yer sweet sketches on there) know-what-i-mean =)

To get noticed, you have to be willing to do the proverbial legwork. Get out there and communicate with the public. Post meaningful comments, make acquaintances who share your ideas, network, etc.

Wow. Ok, so I noticed that you can get tons and tons of views by doing gift art, commissions, and interacting with the CoH community. If you want I'd be glad to throw down some colors on your work to help increase traffic to your page. That and I love your style so I'd have no problem helping you out ;)

Also I suggest hitting the boards of DCUO Source, Champions Online, and City of Heroes. Start by offering a few free pieces, mabey host a contest or two, you know try to get your name out there. Then once a few people know who you are others will start hitting you up for commission work.

Also try to join in on a few art jams here on DeviantART. Mabey do some art of big name heroes like Superman, Batman, Flash, Supergirl, Batgirl, Hal Jordan, Harley Quinn, Joker, Aquaman etc. DC characters are large and in charge currently.

Like the others have said, it's all about the leg work.

When I first came to here three years ago it was all about developing my coloring skills and I found that the City of Heroes community, coupled with coloring various artists' works realy boosted my page views and that of the respective artists.

Really, that would be so awesome. I saw all the great work you've done in your gallery and I'm sure that will make a difference. Please feel free to color any of the pics in the gallery.
:iconleohirok:
Sure thing man.

I'll be taking a look and selecting a few pieces to throw some colors on. When I'm done feel free to toss them on your site as well for cross traffic ;)
:iconjaal:
You got it. Thanks so much
